Connecting Google Calendar

Let your agent book real appointments directly into your Google Calendar with a one-click OAuth setup.

· 2 min read

When you connect Google Calendar, your AI agent can book real appointments directly into your calendar during a call. No manual handoff, no "we'll call you back to confirm." The customer hears the time slot, the agent creates the event, and it shows up on your phone immediately.

Google Calendar is available on every plan tier (Starter, Growth, Pro). No upgrade needed.

Setup

  1. Open Dashboard → Integrations.
  2. Find Google Calendar in the list and click Connect.
  3. You'll be redirected to Google's OAuth consent screen. Sign in with the Google account that owns the calendar you want to use.
  4. Google asks for two permissions: See events (to check availability) and Create events (to book appointments). Both are required.
  5. Click Allow. You'll be bounced back to answara.ai with a green "Connected" badge on the Google Calendar card.
  6. Pick which calendar to use. Most people use their primary calendar, but if you have a separate "Bookings" calendar you can point the agent at that instead.
  7. Set your buffer, the minimum gap between appointments (e.g., 15 minutes so you're not booked back-to-back).
  8. Set your booking window, how far in advance customers can book (typical: 24 hours out to 60 days).

How your agent uses it

When a customer says something like "Can I book an appointment for Thursday afternoon?", the agent does three things:

  1. Checks your calendar for open slots matching the constraints (hours of operation, buffer, booking window).
  2. Offers the two or three closest options out loud: "I have Thursday at 2:00 or Friday at 10:00, which works?"
  3. Once the customer picks, creates the event with the customer's name, phone number, and a note about what they called for.

You'll see the appointment on your phone within seconds of the call ending. Your customer gets a confirmation via SMS or email (configurable in the integration settings).

Disconnecting

If you need to revoke access (for example, switching Google accounts), click Disconnect on the Integrations page, or revoke our app from your Google account security settings. Either works.

If something isn't booking correctly, call (833) 309-4176 and we'll look at the call log together.
