You have two ways to give your AI agent a phone number: buy a brand new one through us, or port your existing business number over. Both are done from the dashboard, and we handle the carrier plumbing (Twilio provisioning, DID routing, SIP trunking) so you don't have to think about it.
Option 1: Buy a new number (during onboarding)
When you first sign up, the onboarding flow walks you through buying a number as one of its steps.
- From the dashboard, complete the Onboarding flow. You'll reach the Phone step automatically.
- Pick the country, then search by area code or zip code. We show you every available number in real time.
- Pick a number you like and click Buy. The number is yours within about 30 seconds (that's Twilio provisioning it on the back end), and it immediately starts forwarding inbound calls to your agent.
- Make a test call from your cell phone. Your agent should pick up within two rings.
Brand new numbers are usually the fastest way to go live. No paperwork, no downtime, no carrier involvement.
Option 2: Port your existing number
If you already have a business number you want customers to keep calling, you can bring it to us. Porting takes anywhere from 3 to 14 business days depending on your current carrier.
Porting isn't currently a self-serve flow inside the dashboard. Call support at (833) 309-4176 and we'll start the port for you. Here's what we'll need:
- The number you want to bring over.
- The account number and PIN from your current carrier. (If you don't know them, call your carrier and ask for a "port-out PIN.")
- A recent phone bill as proof of ownership. This is a carrier requirement, not ours.
Once we submit the port, we'll email you status updates. On port day, your number transitions to us during a two-hour window. Missed calls during that window are rare but possible. Plan the port for a quiet time if you can.
Toll-free numbers
We don't offer toll-free numbers (800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, 888). Every number you search for and buy during onboarding is a local number. You pick the area code, and we provision from there.
If a toll-free line is a hard requirement for your business, call support at (833) 309-4176 and we'll talk through what's possible.
If a port looks stuck, or you need help picking the right area code, call (833) 309-4176 and we'll walk through it with you.
