Creating your first agent

Go from signup to your first working AI receptionist in about ten minutes using the onboarding wizard.

When you sign up for answara.ai the onboarding wizard walks you through creating your first AI receptionist. You can be live in about ten minutes if you have your business details handy.

Before you start

Grab these so you don't have to hunt mid-setup:

  • Your business name and a one-line description of what you do.
  • Your hours of operation.
  • A short list of the services you offer and rough pricing (we use this to teach the agent what to say).
  • Your email address for lead notifications.

The wizard steps

  1. Sign up at the top-right Start Free Trial button, verify your email, and pick a plan.
  2. Business basics. The wizard asks for your company name, industry (plumber, HVAC, vet, auto shop, etc.), and a one-line description. The industry choice preloads a template tuned for that vertical so your agent already knows the vocabulary.
  3. Agent setup. Give the agent a name customers will hear ("Sam," "Riley," "Hi, this is Alex from Smith Plumbing"). Pick a voice. You can audition a few before committing. Choose a personality tone: warm, professional, or friendly.
  4. Hours and availability. Tell us when you're open. Outside of business hours the agent can take a message, offer an emergency line, or book a callback depending on your preference.
  5. Phone number. Buy a new number or port your existing one. See the Connecting a phone number article for the full walkthrough.
  6. Test call. Before you go live, the wizard gives you a test line so you can hear exactly how the agent sounds on a real call.

After the wizard

The wizard drops you on your dashboard. From here you can edit the agent's knowledge, tweak the voice, add integrations, and watch live calls come in. Most customers come back and refine the script for a few days after launch. That's normal and expected.

If you get stuck at any point, call support at (833) 309-4176. The team has seen every vertical and can help you shortcut the tuning step.
