Why answara
How answara compares to other AI answering services
You are choosing who picks up your phone when you cannot. That feels like a small decision right up until the first afternoon you miss four calls in a row. This page puts what every service we checked publishes next to what answara charges, and then says plainly where answara is the wrong tool.

What to check before you buy an AI answering service
Every service in this category sells the same outcome. The phone gets answered when you cannot answer it. What actually separates them is what you pay a month, how much answering that money buys, and what happens on the calls past the allowance.
So read the price and the allowance together. Two services can charge the same monthly figure and include very different amounts of answering, and a plan with a low headline can bill every minute from the first one. The table below puts both figures in the same row for every service we checked, along with the page each figure was read off and the day it was read.
The other thing worth checking is who is actually on the line. Some services in this field staff the phone with people, some run an AI, and some sell both under one brand at two separate prices. The staffing column reports that in each vendor's own published wording rather than ours.

What answara charges for AI call answering
answara starts at $99 a month for 250 AI minutes on Starter, and every plan answers around the clock. Extra minutes are $0.25/min, billed in 4-minute blocks at $1 per block. There is no setup fee and no per-call charge on top of the plan.
Two higher plans add more minutes and more of the calendar and CRM wiring. The full plan and price detail is on the pricing page, including what each plan covers and what the annual figures are.

When an AI receptionist is the wrong tool for the job
answara answers a business phone line. It picks up, talks to whoever called, answers the questions your customers actually ask, books work into your calendar and sends you the details afterwards. That is the entire job it was built for, and it is the only job it is good at.
A lot of other work gets called voice AI, and answara is a poor choice for most of it. If you came here from a search that meant one of the following, the honest answer is that you want a different kind of product and you should go and buy one.
Voice animation and character performance
Voicing a character in a game, an animation or a film is a directed performance. You need control over the take, the timing and the emotion, and you need to redo a line until it lands the way you heard it in your head. answara gives you none of that. It has one delivery, a receptionist answering a live call, and no way to direct a read or hand a take to an editor. Tools built for performance voice will do this properly and answara will waste your afternoon.
Audio generation for ads, video and social
Producing the voice track for an ad, a product video or a social clip is a studio job. Script goes in, an audio file comes out, and you want control over pacing and pronunciation plus a file format your editor can drop straight onto a timeline. answara produces no files at all. It holds live conversations on a phone line and writes the outcome into your calendar and your inbox. If the deliverable you need is an audio file, an audio generation tool is the category you want.
Narration and audiobooks
Long-form narration has its own set of problems: staying consistent across hours of audio, handling chapter structure, getting unusual names pronounced right, and fixing one sentence three hours in without re-rendering the rest. Those are real problems and answara solves none of them. It handles calls that run a few minutes and end when the caller hangs up, which is a different craft with different tooling behind it.
Voice cloning
Making a synthetic copy of one specific person's voice, yours or anyone else's, is a separate product with its own consent and licensing questions attached. answara does not clone voices and has no plans to. You choose from a set of receptionist voices, and the caller understands they are talking to your business rather than to a copy of you.
If none of those describe what you came for, and what you actually need is the phone answered while you are on a job or asleep, then you are in the right place.
That last one is the whole product. Two weeks, your own number.

The live line
Don't compare feature lists. Call both.
You can read comparison tables all afternoon and still not know how any of them sound. Call (857) ANSWARA and ask our receptionist something awkward, then call whoever else you are weighing up and do the same. Five minutes of that will tell you more than this page did.
